You don't have to spend a lot of money to have a beautiful new countertop and floor. If your bathroom floor tiles look a little worse for wear, you do not have to live with them anymore. Refinishing is a more cost-effective solution compared to replacing your tiles, which is much more expensive and time-consuming. Even if your tiles are in good condition but have some surface-level problems, you can simply paint and seal them to give your shower a complete makeover.

The DIY Transform countertop product offers a water-based, two-component floor coating system that is easy to apply. The first step is to clean and sand the surface thoroughly to create a slightly porous texture for better adhesion. Then, you'll mix Part A1 (water-based acrylic paint) and Part B1 (hardener) and apply two coats of the base floor coating, allowing it to dry between each coat.

Next, you'll mix the clear topcoat, Part A2 (water-based polyurethane) and Part B2 (hardener), and apply it evenly across the surface using a brush. The two-component formulation provides greater durability, wear resistance, and longevity compared to single-component materials. Unlike walls, floors go through more wear and tear from constant traffic and exposure to water and heavy-duty cleaners, making the extra protection of the topcoat crucial.

The entire process is simple and doesn't require any special tools or resurfacing experience. The water-based formula is odorless and works on a variety of flooring types, including ceramic/porcelain, concrete, hardwood, fiberglass, and laminate. The floor coating (1kg Part A1 + 20g Part B1) covers 35-40 square feet for two light coats, while the clear topcoat (400g Part A2 + 80g Part B2) covers the same area for a single coat.

The new finish dries to a semi-gloss, porcelain-like appearance within 24 hours. However, it's recommended to wait the full 7-day cure time before cleaning the surface to allow the new finish to reach its maximum hardness. The two-component formulation is 5 times stronger than single-component materials, making it ideal for surfaces that experience high traffic and frequent exposure to water and cleaning products, such as countertops and tabletops.
