This wireless image barcode scanner can read 1D / 2D barcodes from both screens and paper. Deciding between a laser scanner or imager scanner depends on your specific needs.
Laser scanners rely on the reflection of laser light to capture barcodes. Due to the nature of laser light, they can only read a thin, linear slice of the barcode at a time. Laser scanners also cannot effectively scan barcodes on screens, as the screens do not properly reflect the laser light.
In contrast, imaging scanners use a CMOS sensor to take pictures and then process them with sophisticated algorithms to decode the barcodes. 2D imager scanners can read barcodes from nearly any surface, including computer screens, mobile devices, and even through glass or plastic. If you need to scan 2D barcodes or barcodes displayed on a screen, a 2D imager is likely the best choice.
This scanner supports decoding a wide range of 1D and 2D barcode types, including UPC, EAN, Code 128, Code 39, QR Code, PDF417, and more. It utilizes advanced wireless radio frequency technology to provide a strong signal and long transmission range, reaching up to 400 meters (0.25 miles) in open environments and 100 meters (328 feet) in areas with obstacles.
The scanner can connect wirelessly via a USB adapter, giving users the freedom to roam while staying connected. It also has a wired mode for direct USB connection, allowing you to scan barcodes while charging the device.
Two upload modes are available for the wireless connection - instant upload, where barcodes are transmitted directly to an open file, and storage mode, which saves up to 10,000 barcodes in the scanner's internal memory for batch transfer later.
The scanner offers two interface settings - USB HID mode, which requires no drivers or special software, and USB Virtual COM Port mode, which works with drivers and serial software (compatible with Windows 7/8/10/XP, but not Mac OS).
Wireless pairing can be set up in two ways - one scanner to one receiver, or up to 32 scanners to a single receiver, making it ideal for warehouse environments with multiple users.
Three trigger modes are available: key trigger, continuous scan, and auto-sensing. The auto-sensing mode, combined with the optional hands-free stand, allows for completely hands-free barcode scanning.
This 2D imager scanner is well-suited for reading poor-quality, smudged, or damaged barcodes, though laser scanners may perform better on longer, one-dimensional barcodes. It is compatible with computers, POS systems, and various operating systems (Windows, Mac, Linux), but does not work with tablets, smartphones, or devices without a USB port.
Powered by a 2200mAh rechargeable battery, the scanner can operate for approximately two weeks or 40,000 scans on a full charge, with a 3-4 hour recharge time. It also offers over 300 customization options, allowing users to configure prefixes, suffixes, keyboard inputs, and enable/disable specific barcode types.
